Importance Of Fasting
Importance Of Fasting
I find it so strange that modern-day Christians have dismissed some of the most important details to our walk. Many have ignored the precepts of the Lord. Living the world's way, all while holding the title as a Christian. I see fornication, lack of repentance, cussing, jealousy, witchcraft, and so much more. Forgetting that holiness is righteousness. Ignoring that sin leads to death. Grace and mercy are given so we can repent(change your mind) and refrain from our wicked ways. Christ teaches us to renew our mind which leads us to renew our ways. We are supposed to be made whole. Yes, it is a process but we are supposed to be applying the word of God walking towards that process of changing our lives. Allowing God through the Holy Spirit to change and convict us.
We are not supposed to use grace and mercy as a license to sin. There is still power in the name of Jesus and we are to call on him and trust him to change us. However, he is a gentleman and he does not force anything on us. We have to make up in our minds that we want to serve him. The Bible teaches that there is a way out of every temptation (1Corinthian10;13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.)
So it is safe to say that most times the devil didn't make you do it. You wanted to do it. Real Talk!
The good news is that there is grace and mercy and when given the second chance or for most of us numerous chances, we are to cleanse ourselves and release the wickedness that lies inside of us. After, repentance, many fast and pray. It gives you clarity, intimacy, cleanses, and renews the mind. It is like a spiritual cleanse. In fact, God wants us to fast. Jesus also fasted when he walked the earth. There are times that God himself ask the people to fast. (Joel 2:12-13 “Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.)
As you fast you will gain so much understanding and you are removing all demonic toxins from your spirit. It is needed. It is not old school or old testament practices. It was done in the new testament and as I stated Jesus did it. We are to always implement the things Jesus did and duplicate them in our lives. Be careful not to announce it to the world that you are fasting and remember to pray while fasting and to read your scriptures. Stay in peace because it will affect your fast. ( Isaiah 58;4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.)
I pray that you will learn more about fasting and praying. I also pray that you will begin to fast if you never have or will repent and fast again if you need to. We have to be set apart and be comfortable with being set apart. We are in this world but not of this world. There are protocols we need to engage in to see the power of our God reign. It is time we live accordingly starting today.
Affirmation: I will not be held in bondage! Today I will use my power and fast! God wins!
