Ishmel Leads To Depression
Ishmel Leads To Depression
I know some of you are looking at the title and saying to yourselves, Ishmel? Let me elaborate for those who are not familiar with the Bible scriptures. There is a story of a man named Abraham, who had a wife named, Sarah. Abraham wife couldn't conceive children but God made a promise to Abraham that she would give birth to a son and his descendants will be as numerous as the stars in the sky. However, Sarah wasn't patient and had her husband lay with their maidservant named Hagar, I know very Jerry Springer. Then she later got jealous of Hagar and the baby named Ishmel. She was complaining to Abraham and later God told Abraham to send Hagar and the child away and no worries he gave Hagar and the boy a promise as well. (Genesis 16)
Sarah finally conceived a baby boy named Issac but she was around ninety years of age and Abraham was a hundred years old. The issue here is patience. To be honest, when it comes to a promise from the Lord, this is an issue for us all. We feel like his timing is off and we are inpatient and causing a scene like they did. Sarah urgency for a baby had her take matters into her own hands and had her husband lay with another woman to get what she wanted then later regretted it. Hurting Hagar, the baby, and stressing out her husband. Not to mention the stress she was dealing with resulting from the decisions she had created. Our lack of patience will have us in a situation that God didn't create or wanted us to be in. Then we look for him to clean up our mess and we also are depressed and stressed out about it as well.
Depression is created in all types of situations but no matter the root it is the same outcome and that is a disaster. Depression, stress, or anxiety is never a positive outlook on anyone's life. It is an ingredient for health problems, medicines, and ruined relationships. For a couple of weeks, I have been writing blogs on helping you and I deal with depression and how to overcome and it and how to avoid it. This story teaches us how moving hastily will cause disruption in our lives which can lead to depression. It is the same with our spending habits and other things. Choices play a major role in depression, how we respond to situations in our lives will make or break us.
We must be very mindful when we hear a word from God, we must trust his timing, and stay in prayer about every move we make. There must be a renewed mind, in every area in our lives. This will lead to wise decisions when it concerns our affairs and it will eliminate premature and unwise reactions. Today evaluate things in your life and see if some of the things that are keeping you up at night are from a result of a bad decision of not waiting on God. Whatever you do, don't beat yourself up. Just like he did for Sarah and Abraham he will deliver you out of your troubles too.
Ignore those whispers in your head telling you anything different he his a loving God who said to cast all your cares on him because he cares for you.
That's the good news of Jesus he is a restorer, protector, and healer! No more moving before God lets move after God and move towards the roads that he creates.
Declaration: I Will Wait On The Lord! No More Moving Hastily!
